"Alternativa" bloc accuses the Government of poverty and proposes its social program. Minister Alexei Buzu: "Theatre of the absurd"

The "Alternativa" bloc claims that extreme poverty has worsened during the current government and proposes its social program, aimed at vulnerable citizens. The initiative was presented by former Prime Minister Ion Chicu, leader of the PDCM, and several employees of the Chisinau City Hall, including Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici and heads of departments. The project was criticized by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu, who labeled it "a theater of the absurd" and "tales."
The initiative, presented at a press conference, includes measures to support families with children, the elderly, and to improve the social assistance system. Former prime minister from the period of socialist government, Ion Chicu, currently leader of the "Alternativa" Bloc, accuses the current government of deepening poverty among the population, especially among children. "This is happening because the state distributes public resources unfairly, according to the so-called pie model."
In response, the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Alexei Buzu, described the initiative as "a theater of the absurd."
"Those who offered zero support to citizens during the pandemic, those who made fun of people with disabilities and their assistants, those who deprived Chisinau residents of compensation for heating when they needed it most, are telling us stories about the protection of families and children," the official wrote in a Facebook post.
PAS MP Radu Marian also reacted, criticising the former rulers for their statements. The MP states that those who today promise to solve all the problems are the same ones who, in the past, would have generated them.
“They governed the country in the past for years, today they present themselves as the “alternative”, they go out to press conferences and propose “miraculous solutions” that will solve all the problems as soon as they come back to government”, concluded Marian.
We remind you that three formations – the National Alternative Movement (MAN), the Party for the Development and Consolidation of Moldova (PDCM) and the Civic Congress – and former presidential candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo, announced, on January 31, the formation of the “Alternativa” Bloc. Positioned against the PAS government, the Bloc declares itself pro-European and aims to increase the well-being of citizens.
Experts and government representatives believe that despite the pro-European rhetoric, the bloc actually has a pro-Russian orientation, disguised as a moderate discourse. The ruling party, PAS, has suggested that the new bloc is a Kremlin project.
