"We are a family, with the same rights and dreams." Igor Grosu urges diaspora to register for the fall parliamentary elections

The Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu urged Moldovans in the diaspora to register in advance for the parliamentary elections on September 28. The Parliament Speaker stressed the importance of this election, reiterating that it is "crucial" for the future of the Republic of Moldova.
“No matter how much some try to divide Moldovans into citizens at home and citizens in the diaspora, for us they are all the same family, with the same rights and the same dreams,” said Igor Grosu in a message addressed to citizens living abroad.
According to Grosu, the stakes of these elections are the continuation of the country’s European path. “Either we kick off the development that started and the chance to become a member state of the European Union, or we continue working for a European, free and prosperous Moldova,” the official emphasized.
Igor Grosu urged Moldovans in the diaspora to register on the online platform [http://inregistrare.cec.md], in order to facilitate the opening of polling stations as close as possible to the cities in which they live. He recalled that the registrations made for the previous elections remain valid for the September 28 election.
In previous elections, over 113,000 Moldovans from the diaspora registered in advance. Since the launch of the online application “Pre-registration”, available since April 22, another 180 Moldovan citizens have registered. Most of them are from Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Russia, France, Romania, Ireland and Greece.
“It depends only on us what will happen to Moldova in the coming years”, the Parliament Speaker pointed out.
We remind you that on April 17, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova set the date of the parliamentary elections: Sunday, September 28. The decision was adopted with the vote of 57 deputies. The document is to be published in the Official Gazette, from which point the decision will officially enter into force.
According to the authors of the project, a group of PAS deputies, the election date was chosen to comply with the constitutional deadline for organizing the election within three months of the expiration of the current legislative term, validated following the early elections of July 11, 2021.
In the coming period, the Central Electoral Authority is to draft and approve all the necessary documents for the organization and conduct of the parliamentary election in the fall.
