EU member countries are to train an additional number of Ukrainian soldiers

The current training mission was launched in November and aims to provide individual, collective and specialized training for the Ukrainian armed forces, according to a press release.

The mission helps the Ukrainian military defend its territory and to protect the civilian population and was created in response to Ukraine's request for support following the Russian invasion. Plans to increase the training mission's target are expected to be officially announced during a visit by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel to Ukraine this week.
