The military band will be in Bălți on May 9 but won't join the march

The 1st Brigade military band will participate in the activities organized on May 9 in the municipality of Balti; however, they will not take part in the traditional Victory March. The Ministry of Defense has confirmed this decision, rejecting Mayor Alexandr Petkov's claims that the band refused to perform.
The mayor of Bălți, Alexandr Petkov, previously announced that he was informed about the decision not to deploy the military band for the Victory March, calling the decision "regrettable." However, he later confirmed that the band would still attend the celebration but would not march as was customary.
Ala Diaconu, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, also confirmed that the band would not participate in the march. She explained to Teleradio-Moldova that the military band would still be present in all sixteen localities where the Local Public Administration requested its appearance. "The band will attend the monument, sing the anthem, participate in the salute, and have sentries at the monuments," Diaconu stated.
On May 9, the Republic of Moldova marks two significant occasions: the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism and Europe Day.
Government Spokesperson Daniel Vodă encouraged citizens to take part in the events commemorating both historical moments, emphasizing a spirit of "humanity and without politicization."
