Dorin Recean: "On May 9, we all celebrate peace"

On Friday, May 9, all Moldovans come together to celebrate peace. Everyone honors those who lost their lives to make this peace a reality. Prime Minister Dorin Recean shared this on Thursday evening during the "Bună Seara" show on Moldova 1. He pointed out that this tragic and significant topic is often exploited to create divisions among citizens.
"There are very few people who genuinely need to take action, particularly politicians. They should not create divisions but instead show people the reality. The truth is that there are no real divergences; there is no opposition between Victory Day, which celebrates the victory of peace, and Europe Day. Everyone is celebrating the same fundamental value—peace. We all honor the same individuals who lost their lives for this peace to be possible", said Dorin Recean.
Additionally, Recean mentioned that on the morning of May 9, he, along with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, and Commissioner Marta Kos, who is visiting the country, will lay flowers at the Eternity Memorial.
"In this way, we will pay tribute to those who died to ensure peace on the European continent," added the Prime Minister.
On May 9, the Republic of Moldova commemorates two significant events: the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism and Europe Day. During the plenary session on Thursday, May 8, Members of the European Parliament also honored the heroes who lost their lives in World War II.
