Moldova president urges vote for Romania's threatened gains

President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, is calling on Romanian citizens residing in Moldova to vote in the Romanian presidential election.

Sandu states that "now Romania needs our support."

"We have learned so much from Romania, and it has inspired us greatly. Now Romania needs us. And Europe needs our involvement in Romania. We, Moldovans, know the value of freedom and security, the desire to be part of the European family. And those among us who are also Romanian citizens can vote this weekend to protect what Romania has already gained, but which is now threatened," Sandu said in her message.

Romanian citizens residing in the Republic of Moldova are expected to vote in the second round of the Romanian presidential election. The voting process will last three days, from Friday, May 16, to Sunday, May 18. Polling stations will be open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. A total of 64 polling stations will be open across the Republic of Moldova: 20 in Chișinău, 18 in the northern region, 38 in the central region, and eight in the southern region.
