Moldova Bacalaureat 2025: Dates, centers, rules

More than 18,500 students are expected to sit for the Baccalaureate exam this year, including approximately 2,000 repeaters from previous sessions, stated Lilia Ivanov, Director of the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation (ANCE).

According to Ivanov, 91 centers have been approved for this session, with 30 located in Chișinău municipality.

"After May 25th, when the pedagogical councils approve the list of those eligible to sit the Baccalaureate exam, we will know the exact number of candidates participating in the sessions. Since 2013, all Baccalaureate centers have been equipped with video monitoring systems. During the exams, this monitoring is done in real time. Subsequently, we have the possibility, in case of certain complaints, to access the archives and view images," explained Ivanov.

Students from Russian-language schools can be exempted from the Romanian Language and Literature exam if they hold a B2 level linguistic competence certificate. Furthermore, there are internationally recognized courses which, once completed, can earn candidates an automatic grade of 10 in one or more subjects, Lilia Ivanov added.

"In the previous session, 60 students obtained such certificates. This year, the exact number is not yet known, as applications have been submitted and my colleagues are currently verifying the validity of the submitted documents. We will know the exact number and if all documents are in order only after May 25th," the head of ANCE specified.

It is worth mentioning that the Baccalaureate exams for the 2025 session will take place from June 3-20. Students will take exams in the language of instruction, a foreign language, a profile subject, and an optional subject.
