Agreement signed in Riga: Moldovan and Latvian driving licenses will be mutually recognized

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova and Latvia will now be able to exchange their driving licenses without having to retake the driving test. This agreement was signed today in Riga by Mihai Popșoi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, and Atis Švinka, the Latvian Minister of Transport.
The agreement facilitates the mutual recognition and conversion of driving licenses issued by both states. As a result, Moldovan citizens residing permanently in Latvia will be able to obtain an equivalent Latvian license without needing to go through additional procedures. Similarly, Latvian citizens in the Republic of Moldova will enjoy the same benefit.
Mihai Popșoi stated, "This is a tangible step that simplifies life for our citizens living abroad, particularly those who work, study, or have settled with their families in Latvia. They will save time and money, enjoy greater freedom of movement, and integrate more easily into society."
The Republic of Moldova has previously established similar agreements with Israel, Turkey, Albania, Spain, Lithuania, France, Italy, Greece, and Germany.
