President Sandu to attend key Ukraine Summit

President Maia Sandu will attend the upcoming Ukraine – Southeast Europe Summit.

The announcement followed a phone conversation with her Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to a presidential statement, the two heads of state reiterated the strong friendly and cooperative relations between Moldova and Ukraine.

Furthermore, during her dialogue with President Zelenskyy, the Moldovan head of state emphasized her country's steadfast support for Ukraine, stating that its resistance against the Russian invasion also protects peace in Moldova.

"Moldova stands firmly with Ukraine – for peace, freedom, and its European future. Our voice in support of Ukraine remains strong in all multilateral forums," concluded Maia Sandu.

It's worth noting that President Maia Sandu also attended the Ukraine – Southeast Europe Summit in Albania on February 28, 2024. At that time, the Chișinău leader reiterated to the international press that Moldova's priority is the peaceful reintegration of the Transnistrian region, as part of the country's European path.

The event gathered regional leaders and allies of Ukraine to discuss strengthening regional cooperation, supporting EU accession candidacies—including Moldova's—and enhancing political and practical support for Ukraine amid the Russian invasion.
