Mihai Popșoi: "The opening of a Bulgarian university branch in Taraclia shows a strong partnership"

The ethnic Bulgarians in the Republic of Moldova serve as a connection between Bulgaria and our country. The opening of a branch of a Bulgarian university in Taraclia is evidence of the strong bilateral relations and close partnership between the two nations. Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi made these statements during a press conference with his Bulgarian counterpart, Georg Georgiev.
“I highlight the valuable contribution of the Bulgarian community in the process of modernization of the Republic of Moldova, the protection and promotion of national identity, as well as ensuring the rights of the Bulgarian community, being an important priority for our bilateral relations (...) The opening of a branch of the Bulgarian university is a long-awaited event by the Bulgarian community and the academic environment in the Republic of Moldova”, said Mihai Popșoi.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, the new institution will offer Bulgarian, Romanian, and English training and issue diplomas recognized by the European Union.
“We believe that the branch will be an institution that will concentrate the spirit of the community, and the Bulgarian community will be able to study their language; it will also have added value for the Republic of Moldova”, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Georg Georgiev.
At the same conference, the Bulgarian official reiterated Bulgaria's support for our country regarding European integration: "Relations between the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria are good in development and investments in the common future. Common understanding in the areas of security, energy, stopping the war in Ukraine, the European integration of the Republic of Moldova are the themes that unite us and we will continue to work on them. Bulgaria will support the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the EU. We believe that it is the right path, the path of firm development of reforms that have good goals for the state".
We mention that a branch of the "Angel Kanchev" University in Ruse, Bulgaria, was officially inaugurated in the municipality of Taraclia. The event was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, and his Bulgarian counterpart, Georg Georgiev. It took place on the occasion of the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius—a celebration of the Bulgarian alphabet, education, and culture, marking a symbol of spiritual and cultural unity between the Slavic and European peoples.
