Starting today, Moldovans can apply for an ID card under the emergency regime

The Public Services Agency informs that Moldovan citizens can apply for an emergency identity card starting today, May 26. This document is fee-associated, and the cost varies based on the processing time. The quickest option available is same-day issuance.

The issuance of an emergency identity card costs 1,160 lei if requested and issued on the same day. If requested, the costs are as follows: 940 lei for a one working day processing time, 730 lei for five working days, and 510 lei for ten working days.

The agency also reminds citizens that the first million identity cards will be issued free of charge to individuals applying for the document for the first time, with a processing time of up to 20 working days.

These new identity cards are available to Republic of Moldova citizens who are at least 14 years old. However, they can also be obtained for younger children at the request of a legal representative. An identity card is not required for individuals who already possess a valid one.

Since the launch of this document type, 18,903 identity cards have been issued, including 2,872 for minors and 16,031 for individuals with full legal rights. Approximately 70% of adult holders (11,229 people) opted for the identity card with an electronic signature.
