A childcare worker training center will open in Bălți

A training center for child care workers will be established at "Alecu Russo" State University in Bălți, with assistance from the International Labor Organization. This initiative aims to address the demand for specialists in the field, particularly in the northern regions of the country, where professional training options are limited. Lidia Pădureac, the vice-rector for part-time studies and Continuing Professional Training, shared this information with Radio Moldova.

According to her, a new professional program for individuals aspiring to become child care workers is being developed and will be submitted for accreditation by the university in Balti. This six-month program will be established on campus in conjunction with two child care spaces.

One of the initial steps of the project involves the creation of child care rooms. These rooms will be equipped with cribs, toys, and all necessary items for caring for small children. The second objective is to develop curricula, as the national framework has been updated to support the creation of this specialization. We intend to create a partial qualification program for child care workers, which will be a study program worth 30 credits, equating to six months of study. The third component of the project involves organizing training sessions and public events focused on gender equality and the protection of the rights of women and girls.

The model implemented in Balti could later be expanded to other higher education institutions. Currently, the only program of this kind is available in Chisinau at the "Alexei Mateevici" Pedagogical College.
