Voted by the Government // A new crossing point will be opened in Ungheni

A new border crossing point will be established in Ungheni. The Government has approved the beginning of negotiations and the signing of a protocol to amend the Agreement with Romania on state border crossing points.
The document outlines the establishment of a new border crossing point designed to reduce citizens' waiting times and facilitate quicker passage across the Moldovan-Romanian border.
This new crossing will also enhance the movement of goods by providing carriers with an alternative route, which is expected to lower transportation costs. As a result, consumers will likely benefit from more affordable prices in the long term.
"The operationalization of the new border crossing point will promote cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with the primary objective of ensuring border security," stated the Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this new point will directly connect the Republic of Moldova to Romania's highway network, improving access to the European Union.
Consequently, this development will encourage economic exchanges and foster connections among people, communities, and families on both sides of the Prut River. Once the construction of the cross-border bridge is completed, the new border checkpoint will become operational.
