NBM announces record number of digital "Green Card" certificates

In May 2025, the auto insurance sector in the Republic of Moldova experienced a significant increase in the digital processing of "Green Card" insurance certificates. Over 11,000 certificates were processed digitally through the RCA Data information system. This unprecedented achievement represents a dramatic transformation compared to the previous year, when only 239 external RCA policies were processed semi-automatically in May, reads a press release from the National Bank of Moldova (NBM).

The notable growth indicates the effectiveness of the digital tools provided by the NBM, which have equipped the market with the necessary infrastructure for the programmatic processing of both domestic and foreign compulsory motor third-party liability insurance contracts, according to the cited source.

This success is also attributed to the implementation of the new "Green Card" insurance certificate format, effective January 1, 2025. This format allows for presentation in digital form without requiring a standardized paper format.

"This evolution in the insurance sector underscores the Moldovan market's ability to swiftly adopt the innovative technological solutions offered by the NBM and to align with international standards in digital financial services," reads the institution's press release.
