Gagauzia school directors warned over unsafe park event

The Ministry of Education and Research is issuing a warning to directors of educational institutions in UTA Gagauzia regarding their personal accountability if they become involved in organizing or participating in the "Gagauzia Graduates' Ball 2025" event, set for June 21 at the "GagauziyaLand" amusement park in Congaz village.

Authorities caution that the park has not been legally commissioned, and holding activities on its premises endangers the health and safety of children and teaching staff. Furthermore, serious incidents resulting in bodily injuries have already occurred within the park and are currently under criminal investigation.

In this context, the Ministry of Education prohibits sending students to the event and urges all schools to refrain from any involvement in organizing or conducting activities in locations that do not possess the necessary legal authorizations.

The MEC reminds directors and teaching staff that they have a legal obligation to ensure the protection, health, and safety of students during all extracurricular activities. Breaching these obligations leads to personal liability under current legislation.

In August 2024, a ten-year-old girl suffered a double leg fracture while playing at the amusement park in Congaz village, in the Gagauzian autonomy. After several examinations at the Comrat hospital, the child was urgently transported to Chișinău. Police state that the amusement park's opening was not authorized by the competent authorities, while representatives from Comrat claim the accusations are unfounded.

In September 2024, two men, aged 34 and 36, were electrocuted while performing electrical work at the "GagauziyaLand" park in Comrat. Despite this, the "Gagauzia Land" amusement park in Congaz village continues to operate without authorization.
