First electoral bloc requested registration for the September 28 parliamentary elections

The "Alternativa" Electoral Bloc, which includes the National Alternative Movement (MAN), the Party for the Development and Consolidation of Moldova (PDCM), the Civic Congress, and former presidential candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo, has submitted documents to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) for registration in the upcoming autumn elections. Representatives of the bloc were eager to be the first to register, arriving early in the morning on June 20, the first day of the application period for electoral blocs seeking registration to designate candidates for the position of deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
The bloc's leaders emphasized that the September 28 election will be "the most important in the history of the Republic of Moldova." The bloc's agenda focuses on addressing the people's real problems.
Ion Ceban, President of the MAN Party and mayor of Chisinau, expressed that the bloc aims to ensure professional and responsible governance. He stated, “People are tired and frustrated with the lack of results, unfulfilled promises, and a lack of professionalism. Often, salaries and pensions are insufficient to cover the minimum needs. People need unity today because divisions based on various criteria have never been as pronounced in the Republic of Moldova. Together with our teams, we believe we can restore hope for tomorrow.”
Former presidential candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo highlighted that the "Alternativa" Bloc will prioritise the changes demanded by citizens, both during the electoral campaign and after the elections: “It is clear that everyone expects change.”
Former Prime Minister Ion Chicu, who was present at the event, indicated that the bloc's registration with the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) should be finalized within five days. He added that the bloc aims to provide citizens with a real alternative to the current government: “Our goal is to explain and convince people that neither the East nor the West can solve our problems—those of the Moldovan citizens. We must address them ourselves, and we are offering this opportunity.”
The "Alternativa" Electoral Bloc was officially established on January 31, 2025, through an alliance of three political groups: the National Alternative Movement (MAN), the Party for the Development and Consolidation of Moldova (PDCM), and the Civic Congress. Former prosecutor general and presidential candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo has also joined this initiative.
Positioned as an opposition to the ruling Action and Solidarity Party, the bloc identifies itself as pro-European and aims to enhance citizens' well-being. However, some experts and government representatives believe that, despite its pro-European rhetoric, the bloc may actually have a pro-Russian orientation disguised under moderate discourse.
According to the Calendar Program approved by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) on June 18, the electoral period for organizing and conducting the parliamentary elections on September 28 will officially begin on July 14.
The period for submitting registration documents for electoral blocs to nominate candidates for parliamentary deputy positions started on June 20. The deadline for requesting an electoral bloc's registration is August 13, 2025.
