Another €40 million from the EBRD allocated for road repairs in Moldova

The Republic of Moldova will secure an additional 40 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to repair four national roads.

The funds will be allocated for the repair of several key road sections, including the R14, R6 – Codrul Nou – Soroca – Unguri – Ukrainian border and the Soroca – Arionesti sector; R8.1, R8 – Arionesti – R14 road, Arionesti – Otaci sector; M3 Chisinau – Comrat – Giurgiulesti – Romanian border, specifically the Vulcanesti bypass sector; and R33 Hincesti – Lapusna – M1 road.

With this additional loan, the total EBRD financing for the rehabilitation of national roads under the “Moldova Road Rehabilitation IV” Project will amount to EUR 290 million.

Members of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Policy and European Integration approved an advisory opinion to initiate negotiations and sign an amendment to the Loan Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the EBRD for road construction and rehabilitation works. The final decision will be made during the plenary session of the Parliament.

The original loan agreement for road construction and repair between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was ratified in 2013 and has been amended three times since then.
