Vladimir Bolea: Chisinau Airport will be named after composer Eugen Doga

The Government of the Republic of Moldova started the official process to rename the airport to "Eugen Doga International Airport - Chisinau," honoring one of the country's greatest composers, Eugen Doga.
The announcement was made by Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Vladimir Bolea, at the "DescOperă" event in Butuceni, as stated by Government spokesman Daniel Vodă.
Composer Eugen Doga passed away on June 3 at the age of 88. In response, a petition was launched to rename Chisinau International Airport in his honor.
Recently, President Maia Sandu urged the government to approve this initiative promptly after visiting Natalia Doga, the composer's wife, who expressed her support for the proposal.
On June 6, Mihai Ghimpu, the leader of the Liberal Party, submitted an official request to Prime Minister Dorin Recean regarding the renaming of Chisinau International Airport in memory of Eugen Doga. Ghimpu argued that this gesture would serve as a symbolic tribute from society to honor the master's significant contributions to national culture.
We remind you that both the Minister of Culture, Sergiu Prodan, and Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, who is also the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, have previously expressed their support for this initiative and committed to taking the necessary steps toward renaming the airport.
