Volodymyr Zelensky: Russian forces are advancing in the Donetsk region and would prepare "something symbolic" on the anniversary of the start of the war
After a period in which they recorded several victories, which raised the morale of Ukrainians, Russian forces are advancing in the Donetsk region, and according to the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, they would prepare "something symbolic" on the anniversary of the beginning of the war .
However, military experts claim that the offensive could be in the near future, and the fighting will take place for the Donetsk region. After a period in which they recorded several victories, which raised the morale of the Ukrainians, the Russian forces, which are throwing tens of thousands of mobilized young people into battle, including prisoners recruited by the Wagner mercenary group, are advancing in the Donetsk region. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, they would prepare "something symbolic" to try to avenge last year's defeats. In his speech on Sunday evening, Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned that there is pressure in several areas of the front line, and the most difficult is in the Donetsk region, where fierce battles are held. At the same time, the Financial Times, citing an adviser to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, also notes that Russia is strengthening its troops in the south of the Donetsk region, with additional forces being deployed in villages around occupied Mariupol. Kiev has obtained "very solid information on Russia's intention" to launch a new offensive that will likely aim to capture the entire Donbas region and could begin in western Luhansk region, near the cities of Kreminna and Liman, where Moscow has been massing its forces for several weeks. According to the authorities in Kyiv, Russia's objective is to launch the offensive before Ukraine receives Western tanks and weapons. The Russians want to conquer the other half of the Donetsk region, and the heavy fighting will take place here, Romanian General Virgil Bălăceanu told Radio Moldova. "The major offensive at least to this date has indicators starting from their offensive actions in the Donbas. We are witnessing the jump on Bahmut after Soledar was conquered, most likely they will continue on the tactical directions towards Sloviansk, possibly opening a tactical direction from Liman towards Sloviansk, so they want to conquer the other half of Donetsk", said Virgil Bălăceanu. The Ukrainian president also announced that the decision of the National Security and Defense Council regarding the sanctions against Russia's nuclear industry has been implemented. He noted that Russia is the only country in the world that allows its military to bomb nuclear power plants and use them as cover for bombing. Volodymyr Zelensky also said that there are currently sufficient reasons for Russia's nuclear industry to be subject to global sanctions. At the same time, there are reshuffles in the top management of the Ukrainian ministry. According to MP David Arahamia, leader of the ruling party, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov will be replaced by Kirilo Budanov, the head of the Ukrainian military's intelligence service.
