Switzerland booked its place in the round of 16 after the match with Serbia
The Swiss national team defeated Serbia 3-2 in the last stage of the group stage and reached the round of 16 of the World Championship.
In the match at the 974 Stadium in Doha, the Swiss took the lead through Xherdan Shaqiri's goal in the 20th minute. The Serbians came back strong, with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic scoring a goal each. Just before the break, however, Breel Embolo equalized. Switzerland scored the decisive goal early in the second half through Remo Freuler.
Thus, Brazil ranked first in group G, with 6 accumulated points. Switzerland collected 6 points (lower goal difference), Cameroon four and Serbia one.
In the round of 16, Brazil will meet South Korea on December 5 (21:00) and Switzerland will face Portugal on December 6 (21:00). Both matches will be broadcast live and exclusively by the public television channel Moldova 1.
