Romania is to send to Turkey another team of rescuers and specialised personnel with canine teams

Romania is sending to Turkey another team of rescuers, two more doctors and two more nurses, as well as specialised personnel with dog teams, following a decision adopted Wednesday morning by the National Committee for Emergency Situations.

According to the same decision, the Ministry of Defence is entitled to carry out missions for the transport of personnel, means and equipment of other states providing support to Turkey under the aegis of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.

The adopted decision also foresees the withdrawal from state reserves of some strictly necessary goods for the urban search and rescue team operating in Turkey.

The authorities announced that the team already sent there was attempting to pull a 16-year-old teenager from the city of Antakya out of the rubble. In the same town, Romanian rescuers rescued a 40-year-old man who had a leg trapped under a concrete beam.
