Veronica Dragalin: Prosecutors succeeded to gather evidence to prove the guilt of the suspect in the "kuliok" case

Out of the total number of cases sent to trial during 2022, there are convictions in 75 percent of cases, and in 25 percent of cases the persons have been acquitted, said Veronica Dragalin, chief prosecutor of the Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office, during a broadcast on Voice of Bessarabia. Speaking about the case of illicit financing of a party by an organised criminal group, called the "kuliok" case, Veronica Dragalin revealed that prosecutors had managed to gather evidence to prove the guilt of the suspects, and the case is being examined by the Supreme Court of Justice.

"Now, this indictment is under trial at the Supreme Court of Justice. The hearings are public. The fact that the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office submitted the case for trial means that as an institution, the prosecutors of the case consider that there is sufficient evidence to prove the guilt of the person. But every citizen enjoys the presumption of innocence and in the end, the judges will decide," said Veronica Dragalin.

With reference to the case of illicit financing of the Shor party, the head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office affirmed that another group of prosecutors is working on it to accumulate evidence and it will soon go to court.

The priority of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is to seize assets derived from corruption, in order to return the money to the state budget, Veronica Dragalin said.
