Zelenski in the British Parliament: We know, freedom wins

"We know that freedom will win," Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski tells the House of Commons on Wednesday during his second visit abroad, nearly a year after the Russian invasion, CNN reports.

"We know that Russia is going to lose. We know that victory will change the world and that this will be the change the world needs," stressed Zelenski.

"The United Kingdom is advancing with us to the most important victory of our lifetime. Victory against the very idea of war," stated the Ukrainian head of state.

He expressed thanks to the Kingdom for its support to Ukraine, noting that London had stood by Kiev from day one, from the first seconds and minutes of the full-scale war. "I come here and stand before you on behalf of our brave men and women, on behalf of our war heroes who are now in the trenches under enemy artillery fire, on behalf of our air gunners and every defender of the skies defending Ukraine from enemy planes and missiles, on behalf of our tankers fighting to restore our Ukrainian borders, on behalf of our conscripts who are being trained now, including here in (Greater) Britain," stated Zelenski.

"As you told us last year, this is a war that Ukraine did not start and does not want. But this is a war you have to fight," said British Parliament Speaker Lindsay Hoyle. "Our commitment to support you and your people has not weakened," he assured.

"We will stand with you against the Russian aggressor," Hoyle stressed, as MPs applauded.

Zelensky was earlier received by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and is due to be received by King Charles III.
