Group leaders in the European Parliament have approved new reforms following the major corruption scandal in the European Parliament

The leaders of the groups in the European Parliament approved new reforms following the major corruption scandal in the European Parliament, the president of this forum, Roberta Metsola, announced on Wednesday, dpa reports.

To restore public confidence in the troubled EU institution, Roberta Metsola proposed a number of measures aimed at increasing transparency and discouraging the influence of EP members. At the same time, the website of the European Parliament will include a new chapter, entitled "Integrity", which will centralize information about the gifts that MEPs declare, the working visits that are not paid for by the European Parliament, the meetings they have had and the sanctions imposed on them if they did not comply with the rules, reports EFE. The measures come after former EP vice-president Eva Kaili was sacked following her arrest, along with three others, on charges of corruption, money laundering and links to organized crime.
