The European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid paid a visit to the Turkish city of Gaziantep
The European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič visited the Turkish city of Gaziantep, one of the most affected by this week's earthquakes, reports dpa.
At the same time, the EU provided tents, sleeping bags, mattresses, beds, food and clothes to Syria, which asked the bloc for help on Wednesday. The EU has also previously made available €3.5 billion in emergency funding for aid organizations responding to urgent needs in Syria, including shelter, water and sanitation. Turkey is receiving five million euros worth of aid, including 500 temporary accommodation units, 2,000 tents and 10,500 beds, the European Commission said.
