The screening exercise for Chapter 11, "Agriculture and Rural Development," and Chapter 12, "Food Safety, Sanitary-Veterinary, and Phytosanitary Policy," will begin next week. The team from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will be in Brussels from September 8 to 18, as stated by Ina Butucel, the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry.

"We are currently preparing for the bilateral screening meeting with the European Commission regarding two chapters: Chapter 11, which focuses on agriculture and rural development, and Chapter 12, which addresses food safety policies and sanitary and phytosanitary standards. This legislative area is extensive, encompassing around 1,500 acts.

We have a well-defined plan in place to implement this process. Each year, we set concrete objectives for the harmonization and transposition of legislation. These objectives also include reforms related to laboratory infrastructure and the capacity building of employees in these laboratories, as well as staff from other public institutions that assist producers in aligning with European standards", said Ina Butucel.

It is important to note that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry is responsible for adapting three chapters to European legislation. In early June, the Republic of Moldova completed the screening process for Chapter 13, which pertains to fisheries and aquaculture, in Brussels. This process assessed the level of alignment between national legislation and practices in this field and those of the European Union.
