US supporting Moldova in diversifying its energy resources

The United States of America will keep supporting the Republic of Moldova towards helping it diversify its energy resources, US Department of State Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment Jose Fernandez told Jurnal TV in an interview.

The US official appreciated the way the Moldovan authorities have so far succeeded in dealing with energy and economic problems, regardless of the challenges related to energy and regional security in the context of the war unleashed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

"I am very impressed by what Moldova managed to do right now when it comes to this unfair and brutal war started by Russia against Ukraine and I see the aftermath. You see inflation, you see high prices for energy resources, at the same time I have seen a determination from the population here, like taking in over 100,000 refugees. I am very impressed by the country's determination to keep going. What we are doing is trying to help Moldova diversify. Now there are energy connections with other countries, with the European Union, with Romania, with others," pointed out Jose Fernandez.

During his visit to Chisinau on 8-10 February, the US Department of State's Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment, Jose W. Fernandez, had meetings with President Maia Sandu and other senior officials and Moldovan businessmen.
