The European Commission will increase aid to Turkey
Ursula Von der Leyen spoke on the phone with Turkish President Recep Erdogan on Sunday and told him that the EC will give additional help and respond to Turkey's latest request for help for the homeless - especially tents, blankets, heaters.

In a press release on Wednesday, the European Commission said its operation in the affected regions is one of the "largest search and rescue operations" ever carried out by its Civil Protection Mechanism. 24 countries, including 21 EU members, have so far sent 38 teams consisting of 1,651 people and 106 search and rescue dogs to Turkey. We remind you that a week after the earthquakes that devastated Turkey and Syria, the toll of the catastrophe exceeded 36,000 dead. The Turkish Emergency Coordination Center reported that the death toll in Turkey from the earthquake reached about 32 thousand. At the same time, the latest toll in Syria is 4,500 dead, which means that the earthquake took the lives of over 36,000 people, being one of the worst natural disasters to ever hit the region.
