Experts: The new government should focus on European integration and the fight against corruption

The new government, headed by Dorin Recean, will have to focus on the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, but also on the security of the state. This in parallel with the economic recovery and the fight against corruption - this is the opinion of the participants in the public debate organized by the IPN News Agency on the topic "Government change: reasons and expectations".

The new Government, compared to the one led by Natalia Gavrilița, is going to act in a situation with more challenges, implicitly security, but the economic recovery of the country must also remain among the priorities, which would be palpable for the citizens, said the expert Igor Boțan.

"This government must bear in mind that we, the citizens, want the course of European integration to be continued after the expiration of the mandate. Therefore, what they tell us - we ensure the security of the country, the independence of the country, etc. - we want that once, with the end of the mandate of this majority, the course of European integration is not undermined", said Boțan.

For his part, Vasile Cantarji, project manager at the Sociological company СBS Research, said that among the priorities should be the fight against corruption, which would entail reforms in several areas, expected by citizens.

"We talk about corruption for many years already, this is indispensably linked to reforms in the justice sector. This concern is not found, and probably it is an escape, because the common citizen says: we voted for you to fight corruption and here you have a backlog. I have forgiven you until now, that it was the energy crisis, the military crisis and the refugee crisis, but it is already time to remember one of the basic promises. Let's see real movements in the justice reform, which will result in a real fight against corruption", said Vasile Cantarji.
