Former “Șor” Party’s Florești leader tried for illegally funding 8 million lei

The president of the Florești territorial office of the former "Șor" party risks up to seven years in prison after allegedly accepting and spending, including for the remuneration of some protesters, eight million lei from a criminal group.
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office sent the criminal case to trial, with the activist accused of complicity in accepting illegal financing of the party from an organized criminal group.
According to state prosecutors, between July and October 2022, he allegedly coordinated the local activities of the party, knowing that the party was financed from illicit sources.
In complicity with those in the central leadership, the man allegedly contributed to the use of illegal funds, providing instructions and resources for organizing protests and remunerating participants.
The defendant did not admit his guilt.
The case is to be examined by the Chisinau Court based in Buiucani. If found guilty, the man risks up to seven years in prison or a fine of up to 92,500 lei, along with a ban on holding public office for between two and five years.
