Airport workers in Germany go on strike over pay rises

In Germany, a two-day strike by employees at major airports begins today for wage increases. Employees are demanding higher wages as the sector faces an acute labor shortage.

Thus, the protest will start this morning and end on Saturday evening. Airports in Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Hanover and Bremen will be affected. The strike is expected to cause delays and cancellations for tens of thousands of passengers, especially those traveling on domestic flights. The organizer of the action previously announced that the transport of aid for the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria will not be affected by the protests. The strikes are a warning ahead of a new round of negotiations between unions and public sector employers scheduled for next week.
