In Molești, Ialoveni district, love and devotion were celebrated to the fullest. Several seniors marked their golden wedding anniversary in an event full of music, dance and good cheer, organized by the local administration. The couples, actively involved in community life, built their lasting marriages, based on love, respect and patience, offering everyone a true example of longevity and harmony.
Anghelina and Nicolae Ciobanu met 52 years ago. They built a house together in the village, have five children, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. They promised to stay together until old age.
"We thank God for giving us strength and we have reached this day. We both respect each other, we loved each other and that's how our life was. That's what we said, let's live, let's reconcile until old age, as they say in church. Let's not have any resentments", said Anghelina Ciobanu.
Elena and Dumitru Grosu have been together for 61 years and are the longest-lived couple in the village.
"In 1964 we got married and we have been together for so many years. In good times and bad, we faced all the difficulties together. Whatever was needed in the house, in the household, we consulted together. We shared the joys and the hardships. We have reached this age and I can't believe it. I look back and I can't believe it", mentioned Elena Grosu.
Some also revealed to us the secrets of a successful marriage: "The secret is patience: And love, if it is love - all the mistakes we make are forgiven".
Representatives of the local administration say that seniors are actively involved in the development of the community.
"People feel very good, they are very responsible, they feel freedom, they feel the changes in society. They participated very actively in the elections. Most of them, I would say the absolute majority of the elderly, have European visions. I personally visit them, I talk to them very often. You know, sometimes the ideas they give are clearly superior to all the ideas that I have, or the Council, or anyone else. They are wise people", declared the mayor of Molești village, Mihai Catan.
In total, 30 couples from Molești marked over 50 years of marriage this year. The village has 3,200 inhabitants, of which over 480 are pensioners.
