EU4Moldova: visible results in local communities

Over 26,000 citizens and 35 public institutions in the Republic of Moldova have benefited from more efficient public services over the past four years, thanks to support from the “EU4Moldova: Local Communities” Program. More than 300 vulnerable families have been connected to modern water, sewage, and energy networks. The program's results were recently presented at an event attended by the implementation teams and beneficiaries.

Simion Danici works at the Vocational School in Leova, where 550 students study. The institution has benefited from approximately 220 thousand euros in support from European partners. The most was invested in the installation of photovoltaic panels, to make the institution more energy efficient.

“Renovation of the sewage system, equipping workshops and laboratories with advanced technology and equipment. Also, all students and teachers have benefited from courses and training in which they have developed their skills”, says Simion Danici, head of the Quality Assurance Department, vocational school in Leova.

Representatives of the Local Action Group (GAL) “Colinele Tigheciului” have used approximately one million lei granted through the program to develop eight projects. One of these aims at the production and marketing of dried fruits.

"It was an instrumental support, because the beneficiaries kept discussing with us as a project idea, but they didn't know how to realize it and when this opportunity came, they didn't hesitate to apply within this program. Honey cream costs 75 lei per jar with dried fruits and honey. Likewise, all the flavors are 75 lei", says Oxana Stăvilă, manager of the GAL "Colinele Tigheciului".

"We implement projects for three sectors: civic, public and entrepreneurial. It's a maximum budget of 200 thousand lei, starting with 50 thousand lei where the beneficiary chooses the field of investment", explains Ana Plămădeală, director of the "Grădina Bunatăților" Association.
