Munich Security Conference // Bogdan Aurescu proposed speeding the European and Euro-Atlantic support for the Republic of Moldova and Georgia

Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu emphasized on Friday, at the Security Conference in Munich, the serious security threats in the Black Sea region, generated by the war waged by Russia against Ukraine, as well as the pressure exerted on neighboring states, especially the Republic of Moldova. In this sense, the head of Romanian diplomacy requested the transition to NATO's advanced defense on the entire eastern flank, including the Black Sea area, insisting that an effective deterrence of Russia can only be done through a strong defense, informs caleaeuropeana.ro.

The head of Romanian diplomacy participated on Friday, as a special guest, in the event dedicated to the multidimensional security challenges in the Black Sea and on the Eastern Flank, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC). Also, the Romanian minister emphasized the importance of continuing support for Ukraine, in order to strengthen the capacity of this state to defend its territorial integrity, sovereignty and the right to freely choose its future. Also, as part of the set of recommendations formulated in this context, Bogdan Aurescu proposed the intensification of European and Euro-Atlantic support for the Republic of Moldova and Georgia, to strengthen their defense capabilities and resilience, especially in the context of increasing threats to the security of these states. In this context, the Romanian minister referred to the consistent support offered by Romania to the Republic of Moldova, including through the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova.
