What the British secret services say about the unidentified object that led to the closure of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova

The British secret services believe that the balloons seen a few days ago over Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova are most likely Russian, writes the BBC. According to the quoted source, there is "a realistic possibility" that it was a Russian balloon brought from Ukrainian airspace.

On February 14, 2023, the object observed "in the form of a balloon" caused the closure of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova for several hours. The small unidentified object similar to a weather balloon flew in the airspace of the country, more precisely in the region of the city of Soroca. Due to the weather conditions, the object was not identified, and a few days later, the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, declared that in fact, it would be a Russian drone or an object that takes measurements from a high altitude. Referring to the direction of the flying object, Grosu said that: "it came from the northern part of the Republic of Moldova, it entered from Ukraine. We must be vigilant, be in contact with Ukraine and Romania to see if such situations will be repeated", the official said. It should be noted that on February 15, the Ukrainian Armed Forces detected several balloons with suspended radar reflectors over Kyiv. At least six of them were shot down. Earlier, on February 12, a similar balloon was seen over the eastern part of the Dnepropetrovsk region.
