Chișinău leaders strengthen US-Moldova cooperation in Washington

The Republic of Moldova has reaffirmed its unconditional support for Ukraine and is actively bolstering its own national resilience with the backing of strategic partners.
These key messages were delivered in Washington by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the President of Parliament, Igor Grosu.
"It is essential that the war ends as soon as possible and that a durable peace is established, based on respect for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," stated Mihai Popșoi during his meeting with Donald Trump's former special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.
The officials also discussed Moldova's current challenges, regional security developments, and strategies for strengthening US-Moldova cooperation.
The Washington visit agenda also included a meeting with the Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, Christopher W. Smith. Discussions focused on the current bilateral cooperation agenda.
President of Parliament, Igor Grosu, reiterated that the priority for the Chișinău government remains national resilience, alongside preserving peace.
This message was conveyed during talks with Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security, Andy Baker, Senior Director for Europe and Russia at the National Security Council, Charles McLaughlin, and Director for Europe at the National Security Council, Sarah Beebe.
In the U.S. Congress, the head of the legislature thanked the Co-Chair of the Congressional Moldova Friendship Group in the House of Representatives, Mike Lawler, for the consistent support provided to Moldova.
"A prime example is the financing for the construction of the Gutinaș – Strășeni power line, a strategic project that will significantly reduce our energy dependence on the East," added Igor Grosu.
The President of Parliament further detailed the authorities' efforts to build energy independence, increase defense capabilities, and combat disinformation.
"The continuous support of partners, such as the United States, on the Republic of Moldova's path toward a genuine democracy is critically important," emphasized Igor Grosu.
The Moldovan delegation also includes MP Ion Groza. The officials will be in the United States until December 10. Their program features discussions with Moldovans residing in Washington, Chicago, and North Carolina.
