At the request of prosecutors from the Balti Prosecutor's Office, five individuals were placed in preventive detention for 30 days. The court has also ordered two additional individuals to be placed under house arrest and granted provisional release under judicial supervision, according to Violina Moraru, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General's Office.

Sources from Teleradio-Moldova indicate that one of the individuals arrested is Ion Burdiumov, the head of the General Directorate for Housing, Communal Affairs, and Development.

Five million lei seized during searches

On December 4, officers from the National Anticorruption Center detained seven people, including four civil servants and three business representatives, as part of an investigation into corruption in the public procurement process.

During searches of their homes and offices, law enforcement officials seized approximately five million lei in various currencies. The funds were discovered in the residences and workplaces of some business representatives and officials from the Chisinau Housing and Communal Directorate. The origin of the seized money is currently being investigated.

According to evidence gathered by investigators, the defendants allegedly operated a criminal scheme starting in 2024, in which they systematically demanded, accepted, and received illegal commissions based on the value of awarded public contracts. In return for these payments, the officials reportedly favored certain business representatives in public procurement procedures. Interceptions made public by the CNA reveal discussions about commissions that, in some cases, exceeded one million lei.
