Dorin Recean receives Ukrainian decoration for backing territorial integrity

Dorin Recean, the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, was awarded the Order of "Prince Yaroslav the Wise", by the authorities in Kyiv. The formal ceremony took place on December 8 at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Chisinau, Paun Rohovei, presented an award to the former head of government on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian people, as stated in the diplomatic mission's press release.

This honor was granted by Decree No. 617, signed by the President of Ukraine on August 23, 2025.

According to representatives of the embassy, the Order of "Yaroslav the Wise" recognizes Dorin Recean's significant personal contributions to strengthening the Moldovan-Ukrainian partnership.

The distinction underscores Dorin Recean's consistent and principled stance as a politician and a top official of the Republic of Moldova, along with his strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The diploma also highlights Recean's active involvement in charitable initiatives and his efforts to enhance Ukraine's image on the international stage.

"Ukraine deeply appreciates Moldova's unwavering solidarity during the most challenging times," emphasized representatives of the diplomatic mission.

Additionally, the embassy noted that the honor awarded to Dorin Recean, who served as Prime Minister from 2023 to 2025, serves as a "symbol of gratitude from the Ukrainian people to their Moldovan partners for the daily support provided."

The government led by Dorin Recean was inaugurated on February 16, 2023, following the resignation of former Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.

On October 13, 2025, Recean announced that he would not continue to lead the next Cabinet of Ministers. He also renounced his mandate as a deputy, which he had obtained in the parliamentary elections held on September 28, 2025.
