Ambassador Valeriu Chiveri: The Republic of Moldova is safe as long as Ukraine resists

Ukraine has done a lot for the security of the Republic of Moldova, says the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Kiev, Valeriu Chiveri, in the program "La 360 de grade" on Radio Moldova. The diplomat believes that as long as the Ukrainian army manages not to allow the Russian army to advance closer to the borders of the Republic of Moldova, our country will not be affected militarily.

"The beginning of the war was much more complicated. The Russian military forces were in Nicolaev, Snake Island was occupied, so it was at a very short distance from our borders and the more they advanced in the direction of Odessa, the greater was the concern in Chisinau as well. If the junction with the Transnistrian region was successful, then it was an extremely big security problem for us as well. Today, under the conditions in which the Ukrainian army manages to achieve victory, at least not to allow the advance of the Russian armed forces in the southern area, i.e. closer to our borders, I would not think that it is an extremely great danger for the security of the Republic of Moldova". said the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Ukraine, Valeriu Chiveri. We mention that the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu declared yesterday during a program on ProTV that "as long as we have a war in the neighboring country we must be vigilant". The Head of State, Maia Sandu says that there is no imminent danger of a military invasion of the Republic of Moldova. However, the president says that Russia does not give up the idea of changing the political regime in Chisinau, and according to the Kremlin's plan, this would happen through violent actions. In this context, Maia Sandu asks the competent institutions to show maximum vigilance, and the citizens - not to get involved in provocative actions.
