Moldovan schools get new furniture bought by Romania

A lyceum and three gymnasiums in the Republic of Moldova will conclude the school year with newly furnished classrooms. The new furniture, which includes benches, student and teacher chairs, lockers, and blackboards, was provided by the Romanian government through the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova (DRRM).

The new furniture will arrive on December 11 at two locations: the “Gheorghe Râșcanu” Gymnasium in the town of Râșcani (Gymnasium No. 10) and the “A.I. Cuza” Gymnasium in the municipality of Bălți.

The day before, new benches, chairs, and blackboards were delivered to four classrooms at the “Mihai Eminescu” Theoretical Lyceum in the village of Corjova, located in the Dubăsari district.

According to Daniel Mladințov, a representative of the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, the pilot project "School Furniture for Educational Institutions in the Republic of Moldova" aims to modernize the infrastructure of several gymnasiums and high schools across the Prut River. The goal of this initiative is to support education in Romanian in underserved areas.

At the event, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri expressed gratitude to the DRRM and the Government of Romania for their ongoing support for the educational process in Romanian in the country's eastern districts.

The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the determination, courage, and professionalism of the teachers and emphasized the crucial role of lyceums in preserving and promoting the Romanian language on the left bank of the Nistru.

Currently, 569 students are enrolled at Mihai Eminescu Theoretical Lyceum in Corjova, guided by a team of 60 teachers.
