ANSA pulls 1,800 kg of dairy products from shelves for breaching new labeling requirements

Nearly two tons of imported dairy products were held at the border due to incorrect labeling, as announced by the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA).
ANSA inspectors at the Leușeni Border Inspection Post seized a batch of 1,800 kg of imported dairy products. Upon inspection, the specialists discovered that, despite the packaging displaying images of fruit, only artificial flavors were used in the production of these products.
ANSA emphasizes that this practice violates the provisions of the Law on Consumer Information regarding Food Products.
As a result, the importer is required to either return the goods to the manufacturer or destroy them under ANSA's supervision.
New amendments to the legislation concerning food products, which came into effect on November 11 of this year, require manufacturers to clearly indicate on labels whether their products contain only fruit and vegetable flavors and aromas, rather than actual ingredients.
