Police in Chisinau step up controls: 8,000 lei worth of pyrotechnics destroyed, sellers face fines

The police in Chisinau seized unauthorized fireworks valued at around 8,000 lei, and the vendor may face a fine of up to 3,000 lei.

The goods, for which the economic agent could not provide authorization, were discovered during checks conducted at a trade unit in Chisinau.

The seller received a contravention report and faces a fine of 1,500-3,000 lei.

The police emphasize that the unauthorized sale of pyrotechnic articles is strictly prohibited.

"Controls will continue to prevent and combat this issue in order to protect the safety of citizens," stated the General Inspectorate of Police.

The police in Chisinau intensified checks on commercial establishments ahead of the winter holidays after detecting 26 cases of unauthorized sales of pyrotechnic items valued at 60,000 lei in just one day.

Firecrackers and firecracker batteries are completely prohibited in the Republic of Moldova, and the use of fireworks is allowed only under strict conditions. They cannot be launched between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Individuals who violate these regulations may face fines ranging from 450 to 900 lei, while legal entities could be fined up to 4,500 lei for similar offenses.

The Ministry of Environment is currently reviewing the possibility of imposing additional restrictions due to concerns about the impact of fireworks on animal health and the environment.
