Reconnaissance drone discovered by hunter in Lerești, Romania

A drone equipped with a parachute was found crashed in a forest in Argeș county, Romania. The device was discovered on Sunday, December 21, by a man during an organized hunt in the Lerești commune.

The hunter immediately alerted authorities, who cordoned off the area. According to HotNews, investigators are currently working to determine the aircraft's origin and how it reached the site.

The Argeș County Police confirmed receiving a phone call around 10:40 AM from a 49-year-old man. He reported identifying a "possible drone-type object" crashed among the trees on Strâmtu Mountain.

The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is approximately two meters wide. Judicial sources told News.ro that the apparatus remains intact and has a parachute attached to its frame.

Preliminary reports from Antena3 suggest the device is a reconnaissance drone rather than a combat-ready model.

Police crews arrived at the scene shortly after the report to establish a security perimeter, ensuring no risk to the public or property.

The Argeș County Police Inspectorate stated that relevant institutions have been informed. These agencies will conduct specialized investigations to identify the nature of the object and the circumstances surrounding its flight path.
