Holiday magic returns to Chisinau as international performers light up the circus arena

Families in Chisinau have stepped into a vibrant world of holiday magic at the Chisinau Circus. Beneath a dome ablaze with festive lights and colors, the audience experienced a spectacle of world-class acrobats, skilled jugglers, and trained animal acts.

The performance is part of the "The Christmas Gift" (Darul de Crăciun) program. It weaves together the joy and emotion of the winter season into a seamless artistic display.

International collaboration on stage

The show features a diverse cast of performers from both Moldova and Ukraine. Many of these artists spent months preparing their acts, returning to the Chisinau stage from international tours.

"I play the role of a clown, appearing after every act," says Elena Egorova. "I have worked at the Chisinau Circus before in 2022. I know this audience well; it feels warm and welcoming here."

A tradition of excellence

For some, the circus is a family legacy. Elizabeth Velenciuc, a hoop artist, spent nearly six months perfecting her current routine. "I come from a dynasty of circus performers. I’ve played with hoops since I was a child," she shared.

The production was orchestrated by director Igor Cemortan, who gathered talent from various corners of the world. "I brought together artists from Moldova and Ukraine who are often on tour in Germany or Australia," Cemortan explained.

Visitor information

Spectators noted the evolving quality of the local circus, with some comparing the modern production to high-end European shows. The blend of tradition and new artistic energy has resonated deeply with the local community.

Performances for "The Christmas Gift" will continue to run until January 11.
