Normal traffic in Chișinău. Municipal services take preventive action against ice
Traffic on the streets of Chișinău is currently flowing normally, and public transport operates on its regular schedule, the Chișinău City Hall reports, despite the unfavourable weather conditions of recent hours.
Municipal enterprise Regia Exdrupo treated streets in the capital and surrounding suburbs with anti skid material to prevent ice formation. At the same time, housing and communal services worked on sidewalks, access routes between neighborhoods, as well as in parks and public squares, where crews deployed equipment from the early morning hours.
Municipal authorities urge residents to exercise extra caution when crossing streets, especially in areas where ice may form. They also call on businesses and property managers to act promptly to remove ice from the areas they oversee.
In the context of the yellow alert for wind and snowfall, Sergiu Tomiță, head of the General Directorate for Urban Mobility, stressed that drivers should set out only in vehicles equipped with winter tyres. He also urged motorists to avoid parking under trees or on main streets so they do not hinder the work of maintenance equipment or disrupt public transport.
The municipality also warns of the risks for pedestrians, especially children, recommending avoiding travel near old trees and construction sites during weather warnings.
The "Exdrupo" company announces that it is fully prepared for the cold season, having sufficient stocks of anti-skid material and 61 functional technical units, including 37 special vehicles and 24 mechanization units. Recently, the company was also equipped with modern equipment for distributing solid anti-skid material.
Municipal services continue to monitor the situation and will intervene whenever necessary. In the event of problematic situations, Chisinau residents are urged to call the Municipal Central Dispatch at (022) 22-22-67 or (022) 22-26-04.
