Man from Florești blackmailed for three months; police identify suspects

Two men, aged 55 and 62, from Cunicea in the Florești district, have been detained by law enforcement officers and are under investigation for blackmail. The investigation reveals that, over a period of approximately three months, they allegedly extorted 100,000 lei from a 58-year-old man.
The suspects hired a man to dig artisanal wells and paid him according to their agreement. Later, they claimed that the water was not collecting adequately and requested a refund.
In November, the man was stopped on the street, physically assaulted, and threatened with a deadline to return the money.
Recently, the victim arranged a meeting at a PECO station in Florești, where he handed over 35,000 lei to the suspects. At that moment, they were caught red-handed by the authorities.
The suspects now face prison sentences of five to seven years, along with fines ranging from 42,500 to 67,500 lei.
