Janis Mazeiks: The justice system and the fight against corruption remain areas where reforms must continue

The justice system and the fight against corruption remain the areas where reforms must continue, but not be done hastily, the head of the Delegation of the European Union in Chisinau, Ambassador Janis Mazeiks, said in a press conference. According to the official, the European integration process is not a marathon, where speed matters. Quality is paramount here.

"Some of these reforms have been slow. From our perspective we only have one chance to get these things right. If you make mistakes, it might bring bad results, for example the possibility of challenging the decisions that have been made in the courts. This is why it is very important that these processes are gradual, professional and independent". Ambassador Janis Mazeiks reminded that starting from November this year, Moldovan citizens, as well as those of more than 60 other countries of the world that have free movement agreements with the EU, will need a travel authorization for the European Union (ETIAS). This is issued for a period of 7 years and will cost 7 euros. Ambassador Janis Mazeiks advises citizens to consult only the official EU website, as more than 20 websites have been found to contain erroneous information.
