A new regional development agency will be created in the Republic of Moldova
Localities within the Chisinau municipality will be able to access national and external funds intended for regional development. In this sense, in addition to the Regional Development Agencies North (ADR), Center, South and Gagauzia, the Chisinau Municipality ADR will be created, as a public institution, whose founder is the regional development policy drafting authority.
According to a Government decision, representatives of civil society and the private sector, selected by the ministry, will be members of the regional development councils. In the case of ADRs for UTA Gagauzia and for the municipality of Chisinau, the regional development councils will include the mayor/general mayor of the capital, the heads of local supraterritorial entities/a representative of the municipal council and three delegated mayors each.
"The creation of Chisinau Municipality ADR was previously foreseen in several strategic planning documents, but it was also requested by the local elected officials", declared the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Lilia Dabija. To finance the expenses for the organization and operation of ADR Chisinau Municipality, the sources provided for in the State Budget Law for the National Fund for Regional and Local Development will be used.
