National public broadcaster captures record market share during holiday celebrations

Moldova’s national public broadcaster, Moldova 1, secured the top television ratings during New Year’s Eve, outperforming its closest competitor by nearly 4%.

Between 17:00 and 01:16, the channel maintained a dominant 12.33% market share.
Presidential address hits record peak
The viewership reached its highest point during President Maia Sandu’s New Year’s address. Between 23:56 and midnight, the speech attracted 397,730 viewers per minute, representing a 46% market share.
This figure indicates that nearly one in two active viewers in the country tuned into the public station. Compared to the previous year, the audience for this specific segment has doubled.
Holiday programming attracts massive crowds
The channel’s "Mesager" news bulletin also performed strongly earlier in the evening, securing a 14.62% share. Following the midnight countdown, the New Year’s concert maintained momentum with over 267,000 viewers per minute.
The high ratings reflect the public’s interest in the live broadcast from the Great National Assembly Square in Chișinău. Thousands of citizens gathered at the open-air event to celebrate the transition into the new year.

Tradition meets modern performance
The six-hour marathon program featured a blend of established folk artists and traditional winter ensembles. The broadcast aimed to preserve national customs while hosting popular music performers.
The event, which ran from 20:00 to 02:00, successfully anchored Moldova 1 as the primary choice for domestic holiday entertainment and official state communications.
