Political analysts comment on the visit of President Maia Sandu to Bucharest

Today's visit of President Maia Sandu to Bucharest prooves that the Republic of Moldova is looking for solutions to strengthen resilience, at a time when the Russian Federation threatens our country more and more. This is the opinion of political commentators from Bucharest and Chisinau who claim that the relations between the two countries are getting closer to face the challenges coming from the east.

Romania helped the Republic of Moldova to face several challenges from the Russian Federation, says the editor-in-chief of Radio France, Romania, Ovidiu Nahoi. According to him, the fact that the Republic of Moldova is firmly committed to the European path is a progress of the society, and Romania is already a reliable partner in this path.

"All these challenges that Russia tried to plant in the Republic of Moldova, with the energy blackmail, with those permanent protests that could have easily degenerated. It is admirable what society in the Republic of Moldova has achieved. Things could have taken a very ugly turn, but they didn't. The fact that the Republic of Moldova is firmly committed to the European path, that it received the status of a candidate country, that it applies more and more to the acquis communautaire, this brings some opportunities for economic cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania".

At the same time, the political analyst from Chisinau, Anatol Țăranu says that today's statements from Bucharest by President Maia Sandu and her Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis speak about the special relations that the Republic of Moldova has with Romania, and the visit of the head of state shows us about the fact that our country is strengthening its resilience, said Anatol Țăranu.

"Klaus Iohannis spoke about the assistance that Romania is ready to give to the Republic of Moldova under any conditions, and this assistance depends on the effort of Romania itself and on the assistance that can come from the EU and NATO, of which Romania is a member. This special privileged relationship between the Republic of Moldova and Romania is the main support for our state, in the situation where there is war at the border".*

We remind that at the beginning of March Prime Minister Dorin Recean will pay a working visit to Romania.
